Lachung is a town and hill station in northeast Sikkim, India. It is located in the North Sikkim district near the border with Tibet. Lachung is at an elevation of about 9,600 feet (2,900 m) and at the confluence of the lachen and Lachung Rivers, both tributaries of the River Teesta. The word Lachung means ‘small pass’. The town is approximately 125 kilometres (78 mi) from the capital Gangtok.

Namchi

Namchi or Namtse is the district headquarters of the South Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. The appellation Namchi means Sky (Nam) High (Chi) in Sikkimese. Namchi is fast becoming a major tourist spot and a pilgrimage centre. The Namchi Monastery, Ralang Monastery and Tendong Hill are important Buddhist pilgrimage centres.

Pelling

Pelling is a town in the district of West Sikkim, India. The town is located at a distance of 10 km from the district headquarters of Geyzing. A regular bus service connects the two towns. However with the influx of tourists, the region is undergoing a metamorphosis, with the roads being repaired and hotels being set up.

Ravangla

Ravangla or Rawangla or Ravongla is a small tourist town situated at an elevation of 7000 ft in South Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is connected by state highway to other major towns in the state and lies between Pelling and Gangtok. It acts as the starting point for the trek to Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary

Yuksom

Yuksom is a historical town in Geyzing subdivision of West Sikkim district in the Northeast Indian state of Sikkim. It was the first capital of Sikkim established in 1642 AD by Phuntsog Namgyal who was the first Chogyal (temporal and religious king) of Sikkim.

Majitar is a small village in East Sikkim in the Indian state of Sikkim. Majitar has a large population of Nepalese, Bhutia, Marwari and Bengali people.

Richenpong

Rinchenpong is a town in West Sikkim, India. It is famous for the Rigsum Monastery and trekking routes. Near the town is the site of a historical battle between the forces of the then Chogyal (King) of Sikkim and the invading British forces.

Chungthang

Chungthang is a town in North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is situated at the confluence of the Lachen and Lachung rivers, which combine to form the Teesta River. Sevoke

Sevoke is a town near Siliguri in the Darjeeling District of West Bengal state of India on the border with Sikkim state. It is a part of Dooars. Many army and BSF camps are located in the area. The Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in this area.

Dzuluk

Dzuluk is a small hamlet located at a height of around 10,000 feet on the rugged terrain of the lower Himalayas in East Sikkim of the Indian state Sikkim. This place is relatively an emerging and offbeat destination in East Sikkim. It derives its tourism importance due to the excellent view of the eastern Himalayan mountain range including the Kanchenjunga.

Melli is a town on the West Bengal Sikkim border near the River Teesta. Melli in the Nepali language means the place where the dead are cremated. Melli is one of the few towns in India that lies in two different states. The Jawaharlal Nehru Bridge connects the two parts of the town. It is the longest bridge in Sikkim.

Singhik

Singhik is a town in Mangan subdivision, North Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim. It is situated at a distance of four kilometres from Mangan, the district headquarters. The town has clear views of Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu.

Gyalshing

Gyalshing is the capital of the district of West Sikkim in the Indian state of Sikkim. The town is connected to the capital Gangtok by a metalled road. Geyzing is also connected to the West Bengal towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong via Jorethang. A few kilometres north is the town of Pelling. The town is the base for trekking in the Himalayas and professional expeditions to Mount Kanchenjunga.

Pakyong

Pakyong is a town in the East Sikkim district of the Indian state of Sikkim located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The attractions in Pakyong are the Dikling mane-lakhang, Shivalaya temple, Pacheykhani cave, Changey monastery, Devi Mandir, Karthok monastery and Monks Retreat Centre.

Singtam

Singtam is a town in East Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim about 30 kilometres from the state capital Gangtok. Foreigners need a permit to enter Sikkim which they can easily get at Siliguri or at Rangpo, Sikkim.

Jorethang

Jorethang is a major town in South Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. Jorethang lies on the Rangeet River, a tributary of the Teesta River, on the way to Pelling from Darjeeling, Siliguri and Kalimpong.

Phodong is a town in Indian state of Sikkim. Phodong is famous for the Phodong Monastery and the Labrang Monastery which is situated at a slightly higher altitude than the Phodong Monastery.

Soreng is a small town in the West Sikkim district of the north east Indian state of Sikkim. Soreng is known for its largest production of vegetables, oranges and flowers. The areas major attractions are its landscapes, fisheries, views of Mount Kangchenjunga, flora and fauna, and white river rafting on the Teesta river.

Kaluk

Kaluk is the small village located in the Himalayan foothills of West Sikkim, near the West Sikkim capital of Gyalshing in North India. It is a tourist destination due to the natural beauty of the village and its surroundings, such as the town of Rinchenpong. Kangchenjunga, the world’s third highest peak, is visible from Kaluk.

Rabdentse

Rabdentse was the second capital of the former kingdom of Sikkim. The capital city was destroyed by the invading Gurkha army and only the ruins of the palace and the chortens are seen here now. Pemayangtse Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Sikkim.

Tinkitam

Tinkitam is a small town in South Sikkim, India. The town is being promoted as a tourist destination. Mount Kanchenjanga is near the town. The local area contains rare species of orchids and Paphiopedilum Faireanum. Nearby are the Temi Tea Gardens, the only tea estate of Sikkim. Tinkitam offers a view of a dormant volcano that one can come across during the trek from Dentham to Tendong National Park.

Lachen

Lachen is a town in North Sikkim district in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located at an elevation of 2,750 metres. The name Lachen means big pass. The town is being promoted as a tourist destination by the Sikkimese government. The town forms the base to the Chopta Valley and Gurudongmar Lake. An annual yak race, the Thangu is held here in summer.

Rangpo

Rangpo is a town in East Sikkim in the Indian state of Sikkim. The town borders West Bengal and is situated along the Teesta river. Foreign tourists require documents to enter Sikkim state and have to show them at the border police post. It is the Gateway to Sikkim.

Tumlong

Tumlong is a village in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is located in North Sikkim district and was historically the third royal capital of Sikkim.
