Gangotri Tour Packages
Dedicated to Goddess Ganga, Gangotri is one of the important Hindu shrines in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Located at a height up to 3048 m, the temple was built by Gorkha General Amar Singh Thapa in early 18th century. Gangotri is counted among one of the destinations of Char Dham Yatra and is visited by devotees in great numbers.
However, due to heavy snowfall during winter months (from November to March) the shrine remains closed. But for the convenience of the visitors and to continue the Char Dham Yatra, the idols of the temple are shifted to Mukhba and Kharsail in Uttarkashi district. But from April again, for the rest of the year they are transferred back to their original position. The initiative is taken by Uttakarkhand Government, so that you can worship the deities all the year long.
